The Great Dictator 1940

Growing up I was a big fan of Charley Chaplin movies. At the time, I did not realize the significates of his genius. In retirement, in today’s world, it can also be significant. In his satire, The Great Dictator, he beseeches the world for peace, no boundaries, and the taking care of the masses no matter where they are. It is more poignant today than ever.

When was the last time starvation did not rule the earth? Or religious fervor cause strife and genicide? Or a dictator’s wish to rule the world? When will executives realize they do not need billions of dollars to prosper. The world made them rich. Why not give five billion out of their six billion and feed the planet? I will never donate to non profit charity, companies that have executives who make half a million dollars as a non profit Chairman when they only give five dollars out of one hundred to the disadvantage.

We as a world community need to wake up.  Listen to the speech at the end of the Great Dictator. Thank you for showing it on Facebook. I think it is a Utopia that can never be reached. Or can it? I dream of the day I can walk the streets and not be in fear. Where we are brothers of a different color, religion and class, living in accompaniment of peace, love and harmony. Sharing a wealth of monies and good will.  Striving to help  near and far and knocking down the walls of hate, greed and in deference. Working people are happy people. Everyone deserves to feel dignity and prosperity. May you live well and prosper!

Pura Vida!

Liberty

All great governments cease to exits
As politicians do what they cannot resist:
Take the monies of their people,
Spend with no morals or scruples.

Soon liberty is past,
Chained to a system that does not last.
Soon anarchy and riots,
The people become noncompliant.

A police state ensues,
Our liberty we lose.

It starts slowly,
A muse from the unholy.
Patriot Act to protect,
Bailouts we do not collect.

Trillion in debt,
More taxes to collect,
Apologies to our enemies,
No sense in the dichotomy.

Two extremes or opposite views,
Hierarchy is the view.
Gone is democracy, the people’s choice.
What happened to the people’s voice?

Et tu, Brutus?
