Living a dream

img_4350You have heard of the saying, would you rather soar with Eagles or soar with the Turkeys. I like the Toucan in Costa Rica ; it seems to be the majestic bird of this country; It is a nice saying to motivate people to rise to the occasion and put forth their  best effort to grasp the golden ring. Actually it was a brass ring on the carousel when it was popularized in the 1800’s. Not too many carousels around today, but in the early days it was very popular with long waiting lines to go around and around in a circle and getting nowhere. Hence the old saying of doing the same thing over and over; going around in circles, never accomplishing your quest.

It is easy to fall into this trap in writing, where you use the same idea over and over; causing you to become boring; the same old story over and over again. It is the fear I have while writing a Novel series where a family members are similar and you wish to make them individually different, What do you do? In my novel; The Man with a Limp, I named a daughter Charlie after an FBI Agent named Charles. The publisher kept confusing the two making endless corrections and a difficult editing problem. Never again will I make the mistake of naming a child after a colleague.

I like to read articles and use them as basis of stories. There are so many great writings in the news that I like to make a story from the history of the world events.  I Like to research via the internet which I find easy as I write with my I pad. My poetry was written on motorcycle trips as I traveled the USA. Poetry seemed to flow at the ocean beaches of California and the Redwoods of Oregon. I like finding beautiful scenery as I cruise up highway one. Many times I would sit on the side of the road, on the seat of my full dress Harley, when inspiration would strike.

I guess you could say I was flying with the Eagles as the wind hit my face, How do you find your inspiration? Living in Costa Rica helps me jump start my new adventures. It is never too hot or too cold where I chose to live. The beauty is never ending.; I have a full view of Lake Arenal from my Cabin and this area brings out the imagination of life. I feel very fortunate to live here; I hope everyone can live in peace and serenity. In my second novel, The Chameleon Returns, I use the ocean as a backdrop of the adventure. It will be out soon, until then, fly with the Eagles 🦅, Pura Vida! Press the link below for my bookstore at Litfire Publications:

Eagles

Things have calmed down since the bomb attempts of 2018. Lucky and Carla have become an item. Carla has transferred to the Monterey office so she can live with Lucky in Santa Cruz.
Lucky’s Mother Sunny has grown to love Carla and Lucky could not be happier. Jack is busy at the Restaurant and has found a new woman himself. Jasmine owns a surf shop and gives surfing lessons. Jack calls her Jazz,
“Why do you call me Jazz?”
“It is what you do to me Jazz; you are like a great piece of music that is ever-changing. You keep me feeling great,”
Jack smiles. Jack calls Lucky, it is Saturday morning, and Jazz is at the restaurant, so Jack invites Lucky and Carla for breakfast. Breakfast will be at ten, out on the sand, at Lucky’s favorite spot. Jack wanted a change of pace, so he ordered a pitcher of Bloody Mary’s. Each glass has a peppered asparagus, an olive, and a sprig of thyme.
“Jack, what is the occasion?” Lucky ask.
“Yeah Honey, what is all the hubbub about Bub?” Retorts Jazz laughingly.
As Jack stands, he reaches into his pocket and pulls out a box, and falls to one knee.
