Do you know how to use the Bible?

imageHello out there in never-never land of riches and glory. Can anyone explain the Bible? Can you tell me how to use the greatest book ever written by man? I was raised strict Irish Catholic and I was never asked to read the Bible. Don’t you find that extraordinary? I have fallen away from my church because of my experiences with it’s principles. Preach to me and do as I say but pedophilia is ok. A priest can hide in the church and not be punished, but if I do it I go to jail and I  am ostracized from the community. My Grandfather past away and before he died he ask his best friend to give him his last rights and the priest said no because he knew what he did as a young man. Is a priest God? Can a priest condemn a man when he searches for forgiveness? How do you expect a person to believe in the Bible when the church lives by a different creed? Did not God forgive the murderer on the cross?

I began to read the Bible in search for a meaning of my existence. I wish to be a better person and in search for making a difference in life I am searching for guidance. I do not believe in organized, money grubbing church organization. How can a preacher live in a ten million dollar home, drive a Mercedes Benz and preach to the people about God. Give me money and I will save your soul. In my neighborhood the joke was a Minister on every corner. No taxes to worry about, I need a new car , the parishioners will supply me one. Is that in the Bible? I had a member of a certain religion tell me her God is the one true God. Tell that to a Muslum and watch the controversy ensue. Is that in the Bible or is it true if you are not a Baptist, you will be forced to the fires of hell for eternity.

I look at the picture of the Angels and I hope they sit on my shoulders to guide me to goodness and kindness. How do you use a Bible? I have two; a Catholic Bible and St James version. Which is the right version? Any Idea? I will read both in the quest for betterment. I worked too hard all my life to give my money to the church. Blasphemy! Any takers, someone wish to show me how to use the Bible? Pura Vida!

The Holy Bible

Tell Me Lord

Tell me lord, why is the world so cruel?
Yet your sky is so blue
Tell me why there is hate
That makes the soul so black

Why did we go to the moon?
But we let our people starve and live in the streets
Tell me Lord why I should talk to you
Because I do not know what to do

Tell me Lord , why can’t we live in peace?
We war in the name of God
Does not that seem odd?
Tell me Lord, who is my brother?

Tell me Lord, If the heart is the gateway to the soul
Why is our souls so dark?
Tell me Lord, why did Dad loose his house?
Payments were heavy for his sick spouse

Tell me Lord why I should pray for help?
When everyone looks out for themselves
Tell me Lord that it is true
That you will help us through

Is Armageddon our salvation or our fate ?
Is it too late?

Would you like to be on theBeaches of Costa Rica for the New Year?

Costa Rica is a beautiful place. You can fly in to Liberia Airport and be thirty minutes from the beach. Thanks to Southwest Airlines you can fly for under $400. If you live in Las Vegas ,Nv, Houston,Texas, Los Angeles California, it is a hop and a skip, you are there. Costa Rica is heading into the summer months and prices go up. I flew from Liberia Airport to McCarrin Airport in Las Vegas for under four hundred dollars round trip. Do some investigating and find a cheap flight. I found if I looked into the hotels on or near the beach ; I could always find a deal. When I work with the deal sites.           ( Expedia etc.) I seem to pay more than I needed to. Plus each site is given only a selection of rooms to choose from.

I took the list below from Best Beaches in Coasta Rica site:

Playa Avellanas, Tamarindo.                                                                                                          Cano Island, Corcovado Bay.
Playa Guiones, Nosara.
Playa Virador, Papagayo.
Playa Cocles, Puerto Viejo.
Manuel Antonio National Park.
Playa Grande, Tamarindo.

I wish I could say I have visited these beaches, but I have not. I have heard from  Costa Rican’s from the Guanacaste region that Play Guinoes, Nasara is their favorite beach to go to.  I have Stayed at two beaches; Playa Hermosa and Playa Coco. I stayed at Lara’s House, a nice B&B a block from the Ocean. It is inexpensive and is a locked driveway to protect you and your car. Nosara is about two and a half hours from the Liberia Airport.

Down further south is Santa Theresa Beach. The home for world surfing. It will take you five hours or more to get there from Liberia Airport. A nice trip would be taking two weeks and driving to different beaches on the Pacific Coast. You can take the highways all the way to Santa Theresa Beach. Plan Ahead and enjoy the beaches. From San Jose it will take six hours to get to Santa Theresa.  I went to the Hotel Pelícano when I first came to Costa Rica and it took a couple of hours to get there and the beach was wonderful. It is located in Esterillos Este in Punteranas Province. I enjoyed the food and the swimming pool. It was slow season and they upgraded us to a suite and we loved it.

I have heard conflicting accounts of traveling the Caribbean side of  Costa Rica. I heard it is hot, humid and beautiful. Like anywhere you need to be careful. I heard parts of Limón can be dangerous, but rumors are rumors. I’d you go on the American Embassy site they will tell you Costa Rica is a dangerous place. I do not find that to be the case. I do not travel at night anywhere and I am cautious not to flash cash. I like to use my credit card. has a great site for things to do in Costa Rica. Like any  vacation, plan well. Be smart and enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica. I have lived in Costa Rica for sixteen months and love it here.

Rainy mentality

I lay in bed this morning uneager to rustle out of bed. It is a cold December morning and raining heavily. I listen to the large rain drops falling from the eaves to the wet ground. Careening around the house to the river below. The small waterfalls not so small. The large amounts of rain water cascading over the rocks. I love the sound of the river. It is louder than usual, but still it relaxes my mind.

It is a long hug type of day; I chase the puppies to their kennel so Corina and I can hug each other. We spoon each other and the puppies jump  upon our bodies, licking our faces. ” Thank you, that’s enough loving ” as I push the puppies in between us and feel the moment. The puppies LaLa and LuLu always want to be part of the action. They are true huggers.

As we lay I remember the cold winters in my Chicago youth. The rain we are receiving would be two feet of snow. As a kid I would sneak out in the early morning and try to build a snowman. Maybe lay in the snow and make angels in the snow. At the front windows so Mom can see the angels. Dad would see me struggling to lift a large snow ball and he would put on his golashes, gloves and coat with a hood , and help me lift the middle ball to the base of my snowman. We would complete the snowman and my sisters would run out and make a face with a carrot nose and a smiley face with fallen branches and rocks for eyes. Arms made from broken tree limbs . We would run back into the house and Mom made hot chocolate with marshmallow for us to warm up with. We would walk up to our front window and look at our master piece.

Corina and I get out of bed; brush our teeth, wash our face , gargle with listerene and make some coffee for her, hot chocolate with marshmallows for me. We sit down in the TV room and listen to the rain and the river. It will be a rainy  Saturday today. The kind of storm that will keep us indoors. No venturing out in the weather. I ask Corina, ” how about pancakes and no shake this morning. It seems like pancakes and soup for dinner kind of day.” Corina replies, ” That would be nice for a change.”

Corina says she will macrame some pot holders today to keep herself busy. She always needs to be doing things. Me, I like to play my word games or catch a college football game on Wiziwig. An internet site a friend told me about. We will enjoy our wet day in Aguacate. PURA VIDA!

Good Morning

I opened the the window and the screen
Looked out at all the that is green
Not a patch of land could I see dirt
Putting my senses on alert

One deep breath of fresh air
Filling my lungs with no room to spare
There is a scent indescribable
I found nowhere that is comparable

My hairs in my nose tingle
As the rain starts to sprinkle
A freshness so keen
My vitality just springs

The sun pops out of the cloud
Through the light gray shroud
Showing a grand rainbow
With a spectrum of colors so bold

The rainbow stretches across the lake
The vibrant colors shaken me awake
I thank the Lord this day
For the grand morning on display

Welcome to Lake Arenal,Costa Rica

How to prevent home burglary

I feel stupid this morning. I woke up at midnight and realized an important fact. I did not secure my house from burglary; not all windows were LOCKED! The window in the laundry room has a broken mechanism. A galvanized pipe keeps the window secure and locked. They came through that window. We expect a pipe or piece of wood is going to keep a thief out of the secured home. Only if the wood is long enough and puts enough pressure on the window so a burglar can not lift it out, Dah!

I went online  for advice about how to prevent this phenomenon from happening. Guess what? You can’t, unless you have the money to make you home Fort Knox.  Impenetrable! No such animal. I watched a video on how to pick home locks; anyone can learn to pick any lock. You buy the best door lock you can and hope for the best. You buy doors that are solid with a three inch draw and have a thick door frame. I like a concrete frame six inches thick. Insulate the door frame for comfort.

Windows with the best locks. Buy the screw in window frame locks that lock on the window frame. All window frames should be attached with at least three inch screws when windows are put in. An added measure is a piece of wood fitting snugly against the window and the window frame: so snug you can not remove from the outside with a screw driver or pry bar. If you are real paranoid, black iron bars on all windows. A design in most Costa Rican homes. Prevents broken windows in your jail.

Buy an alarm system,  if you can afford it, $ 40 to $100 + a month by companies like ADT or AT&T.  Cameras and movement sensors pointed at all windows and doors. Once alerted your cell phone and police are called . An alarm goes off, make it a loud piercing noise that disturbs the neighbors for blocks. Cameras can be wireless so they can be set anywhere in the house. You will get pictures on your cell phone and computer. Nice to have if it is a home invasion. If you have the money, build a panic room where you are safe from violence( Jody Foster made a movie about panic rooms).

The only problem with alarm systems is it runs on wifi or electricity. All they need to do is cut: A. telephone line,B. Electricity at the main junction box to prevent entry without alarm. Not very reassuring is it?  How about a big dog the size of a horse? Trained not to eat poison and nasty enough to eat one’s adversary’s head. Automatic shotguns are great for home invasion problem. An invader would think twice before going any further when you chamber a round.

All you can do is make it difficult for the burglar to get in. Most burglars do not want to go to a lot of effort to enter your home. Most homes are broken into when no one seems to be home. A car missing out front or no lights on outside or inside the house. Put light sensors on all outside lights. Be well lit. Dusk to dawn sensors and timers for the inside lights. Do the best you can to protect yourself and your belongings. Do not put empty appliance boxes at the trash. Hello! I just bought a 60 inch screen TV come and get it! Anything else need to be said? Oh yeah, STUPID IS WHAT STUPID DOES! I love that Forrest Gump saying because only you, you can prevent Forrest fires. Oops !

One’s destiny; preordained?
A glitch on the eternal wall
What will happen, happens
Can we change the call?

Nine-eleven was that ordained?
Terrorist born for martyrdom
Can it be explained?
What price freedom Fate,

the process of life
We determine our destiny
Not foreboding design
It is no mystery

Live each day as if the next is your last
Do not worry about the past
Everyday is a new day
That way fate is out of the way
